Scaling the heights

Our WETNS crew of Neal Mulvihill and Alannah Richards (3rd Class), Éanna Mulvihill (2nd Class) and Grace Mulvihill (Senior Infants) had a fantastic experience in Awesome Walls Dublin on May 18 at the 2017 Irish Schools Climbing Competition. They were thrown in at the deep end — their first competition, among 200 primary and secondary pupils — and challenged to climb higher than ever. We are proud of them all.

Although it was a competition, the atmosphere was relaxed, the instructors encouraging, and the kids did their thing above all the noise and excitement of the crowd below them. Éanna Mulvihill from 2nd Class took home the bronze medal in the Primary Junior category. (A pupil from our neighbours, Gaelscoil na nDeise, won silver. Waterford was well represented on the day!)

We weren’t able to make up a team of four this year for either of the two primary categories (and a chance at the school trophy) but were delighted to see the Primary Junior trophy go to Educate Together Wicklow Town… and Cork Educate Together took home the Primary Senior cup.

Well done everybody!
